As someone who has worked in the LCD display industry for a decade, I see BOE’s launch of its sustainability brand "ONE" as a significant and inspiring move—not just for the company, but for the future of our entire industry.

On April 23, 2025, BOE introduced "ONE" (Open Next Earth), marking the first sustainability brand in China’s display sector. Built on the principles of Openness, Innovation, and Sustainable Ecology, "ONE" reflects BOE’s vision of using technology to protect the future of humanity. This step symbolizes BOE’s evolution from a technology leader to a builder of sustainable ecosystems, aligning with the 20th anniversary of ESG principles and the 10th anniversary of the Paris Agreement.

At the launch event, BOE Chairman Chen Yanshun made it clear: sustainability is no longer optional—it’s essential for survival. "ONE" is more than a rebranding; it's a declaration of values, emphasizing the need for long-term commitment, respect for nature, and the human touch behind technology.

CEO Feng Qiang further explained that sustainability has now become a core part of BOE’s strategy. In 2024, the company established a three-tier sustainable development system, ensuring that every part of its operations is aligned with green and responsible growth.

The "ONE" brand identity creatively incorporates BOE’s classic "O" with a Mobius loop, symbolizing endless innovation and a balanced relationship between technology and nature.

Three Core Values of "ONE":

  • Open (Openness and Inclusion):

BOE actively builds a global community of responsibility. It partners with over 5,000 companies and supports public projects like smart classrooms in rural areas and cultural education programs with the Palace Museum. Initiatives like the "Screens for Water" project with the UNDP show BOE’s strong social commitment.

  • Next (Innovation Leadership):

Innovation remains central. BOE invests around 7% of its revenue in R&D every year, holding over 100,000 patents. Under the "Internet of Displays" strategy, BOE is expanding collaborations with 170+ research institutions and is driving advancements in AI across manufacturing, products, and operations.

  • Earth (Sustainable Ecology):

BOE has pledged to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, backed by comprehensive low-carbon management across its supply chain. The company already boasts 18 national green factories, with cutting-edge achievements like zero-carbon and lighthouse factories. BOE also leads with green technologies like LTPO displays and low-power innovations.

At the event, a roundtable titled "A Letter from Earth" brought together experts to discuss the symbiotic relationship between technology, energy, and nature. The forum emphasized the importance of collaboration and breaking traditional boundaries to drive sustainable transformation.

BOE concluded the event by launching the "ONE Plan," inviting global partners to join efforts in building a greener, more innovative future. Through initiatives to break zero-sum thinking, remove technical barriers, and promote zero-carbon models, BOE is setting a new standard for sustainability in the tech world.

For our industry, BOE’s bold step sends a clear message: the future of display technology isn’t just about sharper screens or faster speeds—it’s about sustainable value creation. And I believe this is the path we must all embrace.
